Lochlights

Fran Brady

Loch Lights meets solely online now, on the third Monday of each month, at 2.00 pm, for roughly two hours. Currently we have 10 members from all over Scotland.

There is a theme for each month (chosen by members at each meeting for the following month) and members send their pieces to the rest of the group (we have a google-group for this) before the meeting. Each member gets a slot to read out their piece and receive comments and constructive criticism from the group. Generally, these are encouraging and helpful.

We have a strong Christian ethos but not every contribution has to be overtly spiritual or faith-based. We recognise the value of Christian writers taking their place in the world of secular writing, both fact and fiction. We also discuss competitions and submissions to magazines/publishers.

In the past, we have produced annual anthologies, printed on demand, each person ordering and paying for as many or as few copies as they wish. There has been a lull the past two years but we hope to produce one in time for Christmas 2026.

All visitors welcome with no pressure to join but new members always welcome.

Monthly writers' zoom
3rd Monday of the month

19:30-21:00

Our monthly online get-togethers are informal. We discuss our current writing projects, sharing what we have achieved since our last meeting and sharing our goals for the month ahead. It's a great way to set targets in an encouraging space with no chastisement if targets aren't met ;-)
